Facility professionals contribute to the safety and comfort of the occupants of almost every building in the
Pikes Peak region. Ironically, however, their contributions go largely unnoticed.
Who thinks about what it takes to make a safe work environment? Who thinks about the air filtration, back-up power, or emergency evacuation? All are important things, especially if you happen to be in the middle of surgery, for example, when the power fails or the alarm goes off.
And when an emergency occurs, who is the first person on the scene? Usually, it is a facility professional. And when emergency providers arrive on the scene, more often than not facilities people are physically leading them into the heart of the emergency.
The Pikes Peak Chapter of IFMA has taken a proactive step to finally recognize some of our “unsung heroes” by organizing an awards program called COFAX (Colorado Facility Awards of Excellence).
Area facility managers are asked each year to submit entries in any of several different award categories. Entries are then sent to a sister chapter for judging with industry peers who have no specific knowledge of the contestants, or their buildings.
The Pikes Peak Chapter's COFAX awards recognize exceptional achievement by facility managers throughout the state of Colorado. COFAX is unique to the Pikes Peak Chapter and awards are presented each spring.
